Meet Dr. Chad Watts

“I am truly blessed to be an orthodontist. It allows me to live by the adage, ‘Love what you do and you won’t have to work a day in your life.’ That’s how I feel as I come into Rangewood Orthodontics each and every day. Coming to work allows me to work as an artist uncovering a beautiful, unique smile found in each one of our patients while creating new lasting relationships in my community.  I believe our work brings about positive, lasting changes in the lives of our patients!

“Each day I get to spend time with fascinating people from a variety of backgrounds. They all have stories to tell, and we often end up sharing our stories and experiences. We become partners, working together toward the shared goal of a beautiful, healthy smile. One that will last a lifetime.” – Dr. Chad

Education and Service to Our Country

Dr. Chad Watts attended Gonzaga University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. While he initially thought he was going to be a scientist, a personal experience led him to become passionate about changing people’s lives through their smiles.

Knowing his new calling, Dr. Chad attended Oregon Health Sciences University where he was awarded a Doctorate of Dental Medicine and graduated near the top of his class. He was honored to have worked with some of the top scientists in oral microbiology, receiving the National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants all four years while in dental school. He was fortunate enough to have his research published and presented at the NIH annual meeting.

Following graduation with his DMD, Dr. Chad served as a comprehensive dentist taking care of our Army and Air Force troops at Elmendorf AFB, AK. With strong recommendations from his Command, he was accepted into the military’s highly competitive Tri-Services Orthodontic Residency Program, in San Antonio, TX. After graduating from Wilford Hall Medical Center, Dr. Chad and his family spent three incredible years stationed in Misawa, Japan, as he served as the Chief of Orthodontics serving Army, Navy, and Air Force members and their families.

Family and Community

Dr. Chad’s most famous for being impaled by half-inch rebar while fishing in a local river and surviving a rare bacterial infection. His favorite activity, by far, is spending time with his wife Jenee and their four amazing kids, Carter, Jenna, Cohen, and Caden. In his free time, you will find him on the soccer field, lacrosse field, or fly fishing throughout the Northwest trout and salmon streams. Being outside is a priority away from the office, as is his love for barbecue with friends.

Dr. Chad and his wife founded the El Paso County chapter of Smile for a Lifetime, an organization that enables them to provide free orthodontic treatment for up to 12 children a year. They are also the volunteer orthodontists for Kids in Need of Dentistry, and active in multiple high schools, middle schools and elementary schools in Colorado Springs, Fountain, Manitou Springs, Monument, Castle Rock, and Woodland Park.
